Think you know all there is to know about forex & currencies? Think Again!
Thai Baht is the official currency of the Kingdom of Thailand. It is divided into 100 satangs. The Baht is rated as one of the strongest currencies in Southeast Asia.
The original Thai currency was called the Tical; this name was used in the English text on banknotes until the year 1925. The name Baht was used as the Thai name for the currency since the 19th century.
Thai Baht is the only legal currency in Thailand, and it’s not usually possible to spend other currencies. A tourist site that accepts payments in U.S. dollars, for example, will likely have extremely poor exchange rates and you’ll end up paying much more than you would have if purchased with THB.
