What You Need To Know When Buying Forex In South Africa
Are you travelling abroad? You can purchase your foreign currency 60 days before your depature date. You can come into one of Inter Africa’s branches and pay with cash (we can only receive R50 000 in cash – Reserve Bank rule), EFT or with your debit or credit card.
To ensure your trip to the bureau de change is timely and as pain-free as possible, here are a few things to keep in mind before an Inter Africa branch:
- Valid up-to-date passport
- Proof address in your name not later than 3 months (this can be a utility bill, account statement, bank statement etc)
- Green bar-coded identity document or temporary resident permit.
- Flight ticket reflecting an e-ticket number and not the reference number.
Travel Tip: It’s always a good idea to carry some cash with you for small purchases, tips and taxi fares
